The Rubbermaid was 20-25° low at the best of times
I bought this item based upon the reviews and the name brand. I used it to check my new Wolf oven, and it seemed to consistently indicate the temperature was 15-20° low. It was bothering me enough that I had the Wolf technician come out for testing. He used both thermocouple digital sensor (that reads in 0.1 increments in real time) as well as 2 Taylor mercury oven thermometers. All 3 of his showed consistency with one another, with the thermocouple sensor of course showing more accurate on a second to second basis. The Rubbermaid was 20-25° low at the best of times. Short version, tech told me these spring based thermometers don't work well. I can't argue with what I saw. I've ordered the Taylor, available on Amazon and Ace Hardware. I suggest passing on this. Taylor was under $14.
