Not ready for release - stay with 2011!
Office for Mac has always been the red-headed step-child at Microsoft. The 2011 version has been good enough, however, for a few years in spite of the irritations it had in it (have to struggle to use legal OS X filenames for example as MS wants you to use Windows filenames etc) - but it was, as I said, good enough. With the changes in place at Microsoft and their need for revenue as the PC market shrinks, I had expected updates that were worthwhile in this 2016 release for the Mac. What did it have? Nothing really - in fact less than nothing. This product is not finished - they are "upgrading it" via patches every so often. Eventually 2016 for Mac will be ready for use, but it is not now. Example: can't edit the toolbar icons. On one of my machines there is a print icon - on another no print icon (two new copies, installed on the same day- so why one vs the other? Who knows). So printing on one machine: file, print, select printer... on the other just hit the print icon. Add the print icon you say? Nope - can't do that. Not customizable... yet. I ended up so frustrated with Office for Mac 2016 that I deleted it and went back to good old 2011. At least it is complete and it works. Save your money until this product is ready. Maybe in 2016 as the name implies!
