Unfortunately not as good as tidy cats
I really wanted these to work out but unfortunately, they have problems.
I have used tidy cats for over 5 years. I have 2 cats and 3 boxes.
The main problem for me is odor control. I never had an odor problem with the tidy cats pads but with these pads I have consistently experienced a strong urine/ammonia odor that starts in a fresh pad from the first elimination on - it gets worse over time. At first I thought it might be something my cats ate, but after it continued with a pad change, I tried the next cycle using this pad in two boxes and a tidy cats in the box that gets used the most. Unfortunately, the tidy cats pad, while having absorbed the most urine had no odor but these pads did.
The other problem is leaks. I had the occasional leak with the tidy cats pads, but in only one month of use, I have had 3 leaks into the tray, and the pad was not anywhere near saturated. Once I forgot to change one of the boxes using the old tidy cats pads so it went a week longer than usual. There was no odor and the pad, though extremely saturated, did not leak.
I think part of the problem with these is the way the pad absorbs. The urine does not spread out into the pad as the tidy cats pads do, concentrating the urine into one small spot. The tidy cats pads seem to expand when they saturate. There is definitely something different about the feel of these pads - it feels like the padding material is stiffer/harder than the tidy cats pads. This may account for the absorption issues that I experienced.
