★★☆☆☆
great product since it gets up to 200/gal more filtration ...
Not as advertised. I bought these on the assumption that they met the NSF/ANSI standard 53 for particulates which the additional details section clearly states ("All components NSF 42/53 certified"). Sheet in box clearly stated that it met Standard 42 for Chlorine Taste & Odor. No mention of meeting Standard 53 anywhere. Another part of my decision to purchase this filter was because it said 6mo or 400/gal. I knew I would replace before the 6mo. but thought "hey, great product since it gets up to 200/gal more filtration life than the LG OEM filter rated at 200/gal." WRONG!! Falsely advertised second point. Box, paper and label on filter all say only 200/gal. expected life. If expected filter life listed on box & filter says 200/gal., then DON'T SAY 400/gal. in the description!! Given both false standard rating and gal. of life, my gut instinct is telling me that I can't trust that this filter is actually doing everything else it claims. BEWARE......I have yet to find a cheap priced filter that actually meets and is truly certified to meet NSF standard 53, even when it's advertised to do so on Amazon. This is the 2nd filter I'm returning to Amazon and will be buying the OEM LG filter instead for the $34 that I know is certified NSF 53.....you really do get what you pay for when it comes to any refrigerator water filters sold online.
