Kind of missing the point in her own book
"The Dandelion Insurrection" is being toted as the new Bible for resistance. How people should react to the awful things happening all around us. A guide to a better world.
Not even close. It is a book built on "reaction". Yes, the sweeping ideals of the book may have value in a world Sun projects, but what if you never had to go to war with the ruling classes? What if you never had to worry about your government selling you and yours down the river for profit?
Wouldn't it be better to make sure things NEVER get as bad as they are in the book?
Instead of preparing for martial law and government/police troops, doesn't it make more sense to be PROACTIVE? You know, find politicians on either side of the political line who honestly want to help the masses and not the rich, and then educate them as to the realities of goverment/corporate influence and corruption. Show them exactly how it plays out for those at the furthest end of society. Fill their head and offices with statistics and verifiable information to support your claims.
If no politicians is sympathetic, then find someone who WILL run and educate them. MAKE the elections be ABOUT THE ISSUES, not about who looks/sounds better on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram. Have politicians SHOW their plans, in detail, before you believe their goals will honestly help the common person in this society. If a politician does not follow up on the goals set forth in their campaign, petition to have them removed from office as they have made a verbal breach of promise to those who voted FOR THEM.
Make the government offices answer to the common person, just as they were always meant to. It is a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Stop waiting for a crisis to "show your true colors". Fix the problem NOW, before any of this overblown nonsense talked about in the book has a chance to take place.
If your response to my comments are along the lines "Things are already horrible!", then you obviously have no desire to lift a finger to educate (not teaching pointless chants and catchy slogans) or empower yourself or any other human on this planet. You need to excuse yourself from any agenda because you have no desire to do what needs to be done for proper change and growth.
Learn from both your own resources as well as those used by your enemies for if you do not understand why your enemies think/feel/say the things they do, you have no idea how to even begin properly opposing them, and you will have no clue where they will turn when opposed. Learn their lessons, and you'll be ahead of them.
The best thing "The Dandelion Insurrection" attempts to teach is taking the time to learn that there are people under the uniforms, and even under the invectives/labels/insults you might like to dump on those who think differently than you. We are all humans, and we ALL deserve courtesy and respect, even if we don't like that person.
