I have been buying these Kirkland almonds (as well as almonds from Superior Nut Co.) for years...until now. I contacted Costco regarding their pasteurization method. They replied that they use the PPO method. (PPO is a highly toxic fumigation treatment with propylene oxide, which unbelievably, was used as a fuel by the American Motorcycle and National Hot Rod Associations....until they banned it, because of its known carcinogenic risks to human beings!) Very, very disappointed in Costco/Kirkland. From now on I will be buying my almonds from Trader Joe's. Their raw almonds are pasteurized using the "steam" method, which is, as it implies, just steam from plain old water.
