My 8 yo was excited to use it and as soon as I put batteries in it, he picked it up started putting it to his eyes while pressing the button - he had it backwards and almost blinded himself! It is not night vision, but a strong green laser pointer you use as a dangerous flashlight that can damage your retina or the retina of whomever you point it at in the dark! In fact, the warning on the box that says "LASER RADIATION, AVOID DIRECT EYE CONTACT" and "Never aim as aircraft. It is unsafe and illegal"! In other words, anything you point the laser at is lit up like a flashlight and visible to everyone. I feel horrible for any animals/people you look at, as they are probably partially blindly permanently! Horribly dangerous. Not sure why this was allowed through the Consumer Product Safety Commission, unless maybe it got through during one of the prior government shutdowns - the Commission is closed right now! Uggh!
