After I bought this one and received 2 more replacement units from Ninja, the smell was so bad that my wife would not let me use it in the kitchen so I put it in the garage...that didn't work either so I put it outside and ran it for over 20 hours on high and washed it every 5...also I put 1/2 cup of water in each side and did 400 degrees for 1 hr at a time. Now I can use it in the garage with only a little smell...I do not believe you have to do that with any high end unit. I own the Ninja XL Smart Grill, Foodi air fri and pressure cooker, Ninja food processor with all attachments and Ninja programmable crock pot without any complaints but this air fryer STINKS...BAD
