★★☆☆☆
Polar Bears don't live in Antarctica.
We bought the Space book from this series first: National Geographic Kids First Big Book of Space (National Geographic Little Kids First Big Books) and our daughter really enjoyed it and learned a lot from it. So when she expressed an interest in weather we ordered this one. It seems good, too, if a little short on details; it seems to be a little less in depth than the Space book. But otherwise, it is attractive, well organized and engaging for our 3.5 year old.
May main concern about this book is a glaring error on page 18 (photo attached). There is a photo of a polar bear on an ice sheet and the photo caption reads: "Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth." Wow. I think it's fairly common knowledge that there are no polar bears on the continent of Antarctica.
So I'm a little concerned about buying any more books in this series. If the publisher can allow an error like this through, what else might be wrong?
