DO read the Emily books; DO NOT bother with this flawed edition.
The books themselves are wonderful--to me, even better than the Anne of Green Gables series, because I think Emily is a little more real. Anne, while delightful, is a bit saccharine; Emily seems a bit more human.
This edition, though, is dreadful. None of the italics came through in the formatting, which means that the reader really loses a lot of the author's intentions. And it seems that somehow, through either an ignorant human editor or an autocorrect feature that should never have been employed, at least some of the intentional misspellings that are part of Emily's character and development were corrected.
I stopped reading this version and went back to my falling-apart print editions. I suggest you do the same, or at least find a truer electronic edition. I repeat: the books are a delight, even rereading them as an adult. Just not this edition of them.
