Our previous electric juicer was a Hamilton Beach from the late 70s or early 80s. A piece was lost so we needed to buy a replacement. This B&D model had all the features we wanted except for durability. The adage that you get what you pay for rings true here. This one lasted only 5 months before breaking. The bowl locks into the base with a small twist to the left. After juicing I grabbed the handle and gave it a twist to the right to unlock it from the base and the side of the bowl developed a crack from top to bottom. If it were constucted of stronger materials this would not have happened although it was already showing signs of fatigue when the motor would make a grinding noise while juicing, like gears were slipping inside. I really cannot reccomend this product based on my experience.
