Needed To Add A Simple Low Cost Improvement
Dryer Vent as sold doesn't adequately seal out cold air so I added an improvement. See photos and short video above.
As sold the seal between the floating cup isn't adequate - it leaks and allows cold air in - helps but still not good enough. After adding the Frostking soft door seal the vent does seal well and does keep cold air out. You need this simple improvement to fully solve the problem of cold air flowing into your dryer vent tube -- the reason you bought this product in the first place.
The foam weather stripping is light enough that it does not interfere with the floating cup's ability to float and permit hot moist air from escaping. It is also soft enough that it seals very effectively when the dryer is shut off. See short video indicating floating cup.
How well the foam weather stripping hold up over time is to be determined but replacing it periodically is easy.
As with many other reviewers the plastic the vent is molded from is brittle as received and I suspect contains no light stabilizers. I have a background in material engineering and polymers are routinely compounded with light stabilizers at trivial additional cost. Manufacturer could have simply specified plastic pellets containing UV stabilizer, they didn't bother. Shame on them for not paying attention to this important detail.
