Can't differentiate between wood and metal = NOT GOOD
I don't like giving negative reviews, but this thing is a dog with fleas. Went through the instructions using it as directed. Set the sensor for metal. I was looking for the main water shut off valve in a house we bought 2 years ago. The genius who finished the basement drywalled over the valve, hence needing this device. I knew the approximate area where the valve was. So I decided to buy this detector to identify where the pipe and the valve were. Unfortunately, this device doesn't know the difference between wood and metal, cut to the side of the wood, made a hole big enough to put my hand through, and finally found the valve nowhere near where this device sensed metal.
Just to be thorough I checked the wood and there are no nails, screws, staples, or anything metal, on the wood, behind the wood, or in front. Given my experience, I would NOT recommend this device. Now I have a 14 x 14 area to repair for something that was 6 x 6.
