Like some other reviewers here, I have experienced the same issue with my Tripp Lite surge protector. While unplugging the unit from the wall, the plastic backing broke. The exposed wires grounded out which caused it to emit a huge spark right in my face. It's best to play it safe and not buy this surge protector.
