Doesn’t work in real life...
I was really excited by this concept. As a mother of a toddler (and someone who wants to keep outside germs outside generally!) I thought this would be a good solution to stop bacteria being tracked into our home on people’s shoes. But... But, it doesn’t really work in real life... 1) when you receive the product you learn that the 99.9% stat is from a lab test where the bacteria laced item is in contact with the mat for two hours, not the brief exposure you would have in walking on it. So I’m not sure it would even work as a doormat. 2) it says that it needs to be clean to work (which makes sense) but cleaning it is impossible in my experience. I washed it thoroughly in warm soapy water as directed and it would not come up clean once dirty, and dirt on shoes is inevitable...so again, it doesn’t really work as a door mat in that shoes are part of the deal. 3) this one can be mitigated, but...since this is essentially a ceramic sheet in texture, you need a doormat in front of it to sop up rain and snow before shoes hit this mat. In fact maybe this would help mitigate #2 as well. Clean your shoes and then step on this mat to sanitize. Buuuuuuuuut you still need to then leave shoes on the mat for two hours to be effective. And it’s not big enough for all our shoes to be left on it. All in all it wasn't practical for a residential scenario And certainly doesn’t work as a doormat.
