I adore the look of this feeder. The perch is wide and the birds love it. However, it has a manufacturing flaw. The "roof" and base are made of metal. Into this rigid base go small, brittle plastic feet to support the plastic body. The first feeder arrived with one of these feet broken, presumably from being tossed around in a box about 10 times too large. Amazon sent a replacement, which I filled with seed and hung on a shepherd's hook on the lawn. It must have been knocked down by a squirrel or a large bird, fell on the grass, and one of the cheap little plastic feet thingies broke. Again. (The broken bits are highlighted in yellow in the photos.) Manufacturers really should use better quality plastic parts. Bird feeders need to be moderately sturdy to withstand not only the outdoors, but the rough and tumble of birds and squirrels. So I'm back to using my worn and faded plastic feeder that is 30 years old, has fallen multiple times, and still holds together perfectly.
