NERO 2014 NOT BACKWARD COMPATIBLE WITH PREVIOUS VERSIONS
While you can open and edit projects created with older versions like Nero 10, Nero 11, and Nero 12, the menu music associated with the menus of those projects doesn't burn to disc or write to your hard drive. Menu music plays correctly in the Project Preview mode, but fails to burn to disc or write to hard drive. In fact, just installing Nero 2014 corrupted my installations of Nero 11 and Nero 12, which used to be independent of each other, so that the same issue occurred: no menu music when burning or writing old Nero 10, Nero 11, and Nero 14 projects. Nero Technical Support couldn't resolve my issue (I had 3 incident #'s open for 4 weeks and they would only reply once per incident, then they want you to pay for Technical Support at $1.29 per minute to troubleshoot an issue they can't resolve. This makes a cheap multi media package extremely expensive fast with no end to the cost if they can't resolve your issue. Note that after installing Nero 2014 the TRIM function on videos was slow and choppy the result is basically unuseable. Their solution is to uninstall old versions of Nero as Nero 2014 is not compatible with them.
Nero 2014 is UTTER CRAP. Had they warned me that it's NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF NERO I would have never purchased it. After finding that out I requested a refund but was denied! What kind of aweful "full of themselvels" customer service is Nero providing? Obviously, they don't bend for customer's and have forgotten the Golden Rule: The Customer is King! They are a sleazy outfit that is totally greedy and not at all interested in their customer's desires to continue to access, update, burn and write Nero projects created with older versions of Nero. What kind of sense does that make? That's like buying a new air filter for you car and after installing your engine won't start and instead of giving you your money back they suggest replacing your engine! Nero is on its way out. Please pass on the fact that NERO 2014 IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PREVIOUS VERIONS OF NERO to all of Nero's customers!
How can Nero ignore that some customers may wish to continue to access project created with Nero 10, Nero 11, and Nero 12? What kind of a solution is it to suggest to a customer that they forget about their old projects and just move on to Nero 2014? Is this good customer service? How about a warning of Nero 2014's lack of backward compatibility and that customer's will no longer be able to access their projects created with older versions of Nero? They should provide a warning that installing Nero 2014 will corrupt previous versions of Nero installed on your computer such as Nero 10, Nero 11, and Nero 12! Is not communicating this to potential customers valid when asking for a refund? Is this good business for Nero?
Below are emails from Technical Support that state Nero 2014 is not compatible with older version plus a lovely email from Customer Service stating that I can't get a refund because I agreed to the terms of service when downloading my software from Nero:
Email from Nero Technical Support:
Hi Vincent, The NeroSupport.cab file did not reveal the cause of your problem.
One thing we could see is that you were using a Nero Video project that was
created with Nero Video 12. Projects created with a previous version are not
supported by Nero Video 2014. Do you have this problem when using a project
that was created with the current version. Please do not to use one which was
created with a previous version. If the problem persists after taking these
actions please give us a call back at 1-888-309-4212 for further
troubleshooting. We do not provide free technical support at this email
address.

The charge to speak with a Nero technical support representative is $1.29 per minute. Support is provided on a best-efforts basis and resolutions are not guaranteed. You are not charged for any time that you are waiting to speak with the technician or any time you may be placed on hold.
You may notice on your credit card or bank statement a pre-authorization amount of $71. This is not a charge but a pre-authorization of your credit card that occurs when you initially enter your credit card information into the telephone system. If you hung-up before speaking to a technician, it may take 1-3 days before your bank will "time-out" this pre-authorization and remove it from your statement.
If you did speak with a technician, at the conclusion of your call, the $71 pre-authorization is converted from a pre-authorization to a charge in the amount of $1.29 multiplied by the number of minutes you spoke with the technician.
If you need a receipt for the charges incurred speaking to a Nero support technician or have additional questions about the charges incurred, please call billing customer service at 925-235-7228.
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have or provide you with a receipt for your call.
Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Yours sincerely
