★★☆☆☆
Poor packaging and Poor manufacturing QC
I was really excited about this item. It was rated well, and looked nice. I received it, and 1st the item did not even have a created basic retail package to place the product in a box, it comes as a loose item shrink wrapped. Because of this it had to be shipped in an extra box to protect it, 2 pieces of cardboard sandwiched together, but it would have been nice to have actually had a box. It was falling apart when received. Next even though the product itself came undamaged, the design at first glance looked good, but after assembling it it was not as expected. The 2 bottom support bars were not the correct length. Meaning. When you connect the left and right post to build your base, you have to then seat the board. The board and side pieces are spread longer apart then the bars on the base. Basically by 1/2 to 5/8 spread wider then it should be, and even more when you have to pivot or flip the board around. Next all the aluminum is very thin and soft. When you try to tighten any screws even lightly, it crushes and bends the aluminum. Now this would not be an issue if there was some nylon spacer or block or even a aluminum collar tube for the screw to keep the pieces from bending when you tighten. (Common on other products I have seen). Also the holes drilled into each post for the screws to go in, were not even clean shaved. Each hole had metal shards on the inside, which if the drill bits were sharp it would not split out. Even in that case you can clean the hole easy right after the drilling to take the burs off, which was not even done. Minor issue, but there was rough markings seen on the outside, and the shard pieces were on the inside. This showed it was painted on the aluminum first then drilled rather then the other way around. You do the machining first before you start finish painting :-). My concern is that when putting the screws in, pieces fell out the tube. I have cats and kids. They were sharp. Also to tighten the screws: The center braces had nylon posts to screw into which were not securely in the ends. Meaning they were just snug. There was no post or screw through them to keep it from sliding in and out after secure. Hence in the pictures you can see the black plastic. The vertical pieces were even a bigger issue, since they had no plastic, you actually had to metal thread the bottom bolts into the aluminum channels which was very tough, and they were not even pre-tapped. You have to do it by hand and you can't use a power tool since you could crack the aluminum. The wheels were low quality. In the picture you can see the weight of the assembly pressing the the wheel inward, which will break it soon, as I keep moving it around. Lastly. The pivot mechanism. There is no blocks in ends of the aluminum tubes or spacers to keep you from over tightening. So each time you spin the levers it squeezes the bar, with no stopper. Over time or right away, it will just completely crush in. Hopefully my review helps others. Again, I really like the products and read a lot of good reviews, features are good and value, but maybe I got a dud, or maybe this model was a basic version, I don't know. Very upset. For $130 plus dollars I would have expected a little more.
