DO NOT BUY THESE AT THIS TIME! Audio drops constantly.
TL;DR is at the end. EDIT AT BOTTOM (10/18/18) I use an XBOX One X and I'm coming from using the Turtle Beach Stealth 500X (held together by popsicle sticks and electrical tape) for the past 4+ years, that were fully wireless to the controller, but have a USB dongle connected to the XBOX. That's what I'm using for my main comparisons on sound quality. First impressions: 1. They feel like a decent headset but I was expecting the entire band to be metal. It seems there is a metal frame around the cans but once they hit that hinge where the headband extension happens I'm pretty sure it goes all plastic. They fit pretty well but seem kind of heavy. Bonus travel case is nice. Volume dials and buttons seem flimsy. I’m very careful and I don’t see this as an issue for me but I was expecting metal and a little less wobble/give on the mute buttons. 2. They were very easy to pair up. It took about 5-10 seconds. 3. I played 3 games for a total of roughly 3 hours, COD Black Ops 4 Battle Royal, PUBG, and Forza Horizon 4. I had audio drops in every game, roughly every 2-3 minutes. Sometimes more frequent, sometimes less, but on average every few minutes. Sometimes it's a half second, sometimes a second, sometimes a few seconds or more. That is a killer in battle royal. You just have to wait for the audio to pick back up. Shooters sounded great as did Forza but I wish I could tweak sound. I definitely would have liked separate sound profiles for shooters, racing games, etc... 4. These sound really good and are loud. At least they seem louder than the Stealth 500x's. I use both with Dolbey Atmos and feel like I can hear better, direction and overall, with the LS35x's. Might be placebo but I'll test further. Pros: *Seem to be good quality but I worry about the hinges and headband over time. *They sound great and are loud. (I've only tested using Dolbey Atmos) Good directional awareness. I feel like it's better than the Stealth 500x's. *Easy to connect to console. *100% wireless. When you turn off the console, they turn off, just like the controller. Cons: *Too many disconnects (likely the deal breaker for me and many others if there isn't an immediate fix) *No Bluetooth. Can't connect to phone that way to manage headset or play audio from mobile device. (It's 2018 and these were delayed so long, this is a big miss since most newer mobile devices are ditching the 3.5mm jack. Works wired doesn’t mean much if you don’t have a 3.5mm jack on your phone. *No EQ - the preset is the preset. While it sounds good it doesn't work for all games. The turtle beaches had pre-loaded presets or you could connect to a PC and configure personal presets for different game genres. They would highlight different sounds depending on the genre. TL;DR: Sound and build is good but there are too many audio drops. No EQ. Waited a long time for these, not sure I feel like waiting for a firmware update. The audio drops might be a deal breaker. EDIT (10/18/18) Don't buy these. I used these for 2 more hours after trying all the troubleshooting tips provided by LucidSound. I unpaired/re-paired, walked out of room with just headset, just controller, then both, to allow to re-pair with the XBOX. Nothing works and these are disconnecting a few times a minute now. Maybe a firmware update can fix them but with the way the pre-order, delays, lack of information/communication by LucidSound, and then how the launch went, I don't have any faith that this company can provide a quick firmware update, and even if they could, that it would actually fix the issue. Even 1 audio cutout is unacceptable. These cut out constantly. It's like every time you move your head they disconnect. To anyone reviewing these that says that the cutouts aren't a big deal, they're not an avid gamer. Call-outs, sound cues, and directional awareness is everything in the games I play, PUBG, COD Blackout, and Destiny. Shame on LucidSound for shipping these out like this with no fix in sight. Their quality control must be non-existent. I couldn't be any more disappointed after waiting this long and having been shipped a flawed product. These are going back for something reliable.
