Samsung Changed Filter Design But Expect Customers To Pay For Modifications to Filter Housing
This should be a class action suit; I'm having the same problem for the filter on my Samsung RFG237AARS/XAA. My refrigerator cost $2,200. I've had no trouble with changing my Samsung BRAND water filters, until last week. When I found I couldn't get the new filter to seat and lock, I was puzzled but then, carefully examining the old and new filter, discovered that Samsung had slightly re-designed the filter. On 2/23, when I reported the problem the Samsung rep told me about the redesign and that I would need a modification to the filter housing, and, when I asked her to confirm that Samsung would pay for this since it was a Samsung redesign that caused the problem. Today, when I spoke with the company assigned to do the repairs I was told that Samsung is NOT paying for this. I've been on the phone for over an hour with various Samsung people, and they actually expect the customer to pay for modifications to fit the redesigned filters. Absurd! When car manufacturers have a problem with a part they designed, they do a recall and fix the problem at no cost to the customer.
