I have run this item for over 3 months now. I wasn't impressed at first, bu decided to give it some time. I have allergies and asthma and wanted something that could help. This air filter made zero difference. The original filter that comes with this product does NOT filter the air. I noticed fine white dust on top of the unit within a couple of weeks. I wiped it off and more fine white dust appeared again and again and again. After a few months I took out the air filter and did notice large dust particles on it. Blew it out to clean it and there was nothing. No fine dust, no smaller dust particles - nothing. It wasn't even close to dirty. I have more dust around this than in the filter. I would argue the fact this is NOT a HEPA filter considering I could see through it and it is quite porous. (I was using the original filter). Dust bunnies were starting to develop. No filtering. Just recycling of the air and distributing the dust around it. That is all this does.
