Good Sound Great Compact Size 👍But is Defective
Rode quality sound. 3db levels. Quick n easy hook up. Love the small compact size and pretty long battery life. The clip fitting into a cold or hot shoe is a great idea that I'm surprised no one else has done yet. Sound is pretty good. On the loudest db setting you get a tiny bit of noise but its not to bad. The middle sounds perfect with a good level of volume and not much noise.
The dead cat or wind muff is what it is. Snaps into place and works but covers up the indicator lights you want to see. Also comes off easily with nudge. The storage pouch could have been better. You get a soft pouch that probable cost $1 😐 They should of had a nice hard case to store the transmitter receiver the trs cable and the wind muffs. But atleast they give you something ...
Really pleased with the overall sound quality plug n play easy fast hook up and operation and you gotta love the small size. Haven't tested the range but it recorded while I stepped into the next room. 20ft maybe. So far works great with action cameras gonna test on others and will update if any issues pop up.
UPDATE: The transmitter microphone stops working once you plug in an external mic. It will not revert back to the onboard microphone when you unplug an external mic. Very disappointing 😓 This seems to be a common problem. You can find my video on YouTube. Currently there are no fixes Rode is not doing anything about it as of this moment. Thankfully Amazon has great customer service. If you get this and want to find out if you have a defective one test the external mic input first. If you know you'll like it and are ok with not being able to use it as it should and you are fine with just using the onboard then don't plug in an external mic. Or wait till they come out with a revised edition. Not sure why the big reviewers who got this early failed to mention this problem.
UPDATE 2: I was pretty happy with this but sure enough I had to test the external mic input on my 2nd unit. I felt this should work the way its suppose to. I paid full price and shouldn't have to live with a product that doesn't work the way its suppose to. And sure enough the same thing happened. Rode needs to make a different batch that fixes this issue and clearly label that it's an updated version. I don't want to have to go through the refund repurchase thing again. 😒 That's 2 now with the same problem. 3rd times the charm right?
