I was always a big fan of the Swing-A-Way can openers and have several older ones. I purchased this particular can opener three years ago and put it away as a back-up. It was still in its original packaging 4 days ago when I got it out to take on a camping trip. What a piece of junk. I used it on five different cans (all different types) and on every can it skipped 1/2 inch long pieces of the lid in at least two places. (It's also big, clunky, awkward, and hard to store, but I would forgive those faults if it actually opened cans.) I looked up Swing-A-Way and found that the long-time St Louis company had moved its operations to China in 2009. Since this was the first one I had bought since that move, it seems obvious that in typical Chinese manufacturing fashion, this can opener only LOOKS like the original product. It certainly lacks its quality and functionality.
