I have used this carrier three times. Twice when my cat was a young kitten (under 4 lbs) and once today at her adult weight of 10.4 lbs. My experience with this carrier was good when my cat was little, however, now that she is heavier I have had a BIG problem. The two closures that secure the top door released (pulled through the opening in the plastic - yes, they were secured before lifting), detaching the whole top panel while carrying by the carry handle. Not once, but twice!! I'm very fortunate that I have a very laid back cat that didn't (somehow) panic at being dropped and she didn't escape, but could've easily. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARRIER FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PET BEING TRANSPORTED. I suppose you could attach a shoulder strap and use that to carry the carrier, but the design as it is encourages the use of the carry handle on the top panel, which CANNOT SUPPORT A REASONABLE WEIGHT. Please consider a redesign on the latches for the sake of pets that might escape and not be seen again. Will be replacing with another product.
