Lies.
If you use this for preparing food, you'll get lead poisoning. But what did you expect, besides more Chinese garbage? I bought this knife because I was curious as to what is pushed on the market these days. More to the point, I was curious as to how many lies a manufacturer will tell to sell a product directly from China. Well, the results were exactly what I expected. 1: NOT FULL TANG: This should be obvious because of the nut on the end of the handle; that's a dead giveaway of a welded rat-tail tang. Disassembly was simple, and revealed this. If you use this to cut anything, it WILL break. 2: PRESENCE OF LEAD: Lead is often added to steel to improve machinability, to make a "softer" metal. If lead can be detected with a standardized lead testing kit, the content is high enough to potentially poison the user. I tested the blade for lead, and it came up positive. It's possible that the indicator came from the paint on the blade and not the metal itself. The blade guard and pommel nut may be potmetal brass, which would send its lead content through the roof, but I did not test those. In either case, this knife has a high lead content. And that black stuff on the blade? It's not from forging. It's paint. 3: POOR FINISH: There were splashes of wood stain all over the blade guard, indicating that it was finished after assembly, and not before. It looks terrible. The sheath is fabric-back vinyl, like what they use to make the holsters for kids plastic toy guns. Worth nothing, and barely useable. DO NOT BUY THIS KNIFE.
