Broken -Save Original Package! - MaxiClimber XL-2000
I bought the MaxiClimber XL-2000 used it for less than two weeks. Light to moderate use. I weigh about 145-lbs. One of the plastic guide wheels broke. I contacted the seller per instructions in the included warranty. The warranty, in the manual, states "We will be happy to correct any problem you may have..." Two days later this is the email response from MaxiClimber: "We hope you are doing great today. Upon review of your case, we will need you to file a claim to Amazon for this and they will create a case and contact you as fast as possible to provide the best solution to this issue." Well, thanks a lot MaxiClimber, but I am not doing fine. And I don't see any provision to "file a claim." The only choices through my account are to "return" or "exchange" the item. I don't want to exchange if a new one is just going to break in two weeks with no spare parts available. And if I opt for cash back (if this is possible) I will still have to disassemble, pack and ship a large, heavy, awkward item. (Anyway, kudos for Amazon for standing behind items they ship!) If you are thinking of buying one of these consider the inability of the seller to offer any solution when parts break. And that the "One Year" warranty seems to mean nothing. Edited: I reached out again to the seller, following up emails with a phone call to the 800 number listed in the warranty. At first I was told, again, that I had to go through Amazon. Then, went through a bizarre back-and-forth about 1)- if it was even possible to "file a claim" with Amazon, 2)- whether or not Inova/MaxiClimber had any spare parts, and 3)- (really oddly) whether "Inova" was really the "seller" of the MaxiClimber. Finally the rep told me she'd see if they could help, and would contact me with a decision. But I was not contacted as promissed and am now beginning the procedure for a "Refund" from Amazon. ("Replace" is the only other option and I absolutely do NOT want to replace one MaxiClimber with another). I will edit this post again to relate how that process goes. Second edit: Amazon made good on accepting the return. Refund went to "Gift Card" balance, rather than a VISA credit or cash, but I am happy to get that. I have two suggestions if you are still considering buying a Maxiclimber: 1)- First call "Inova" and ask about availability of spare/replacement parts; and 2)- If you do buy, SAVE ORIGINAL SHIPPING MATERIAL -- the machine is a bear to box up from scratch. BTW, I did not pursue seller's offer to "provide further assistance" (further?) offered in their comment made after my first edit because I felt I had already sufficiently "reached out," and because I had already begun the return process. After our exchange of emails they could have contacted me at any time, and did not.
