Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

This tea kettle looked quite good from many reviewers' ratings and comments, but after two defective kettles, we have given up on this product and returned them both for credit. First kettle had a faulty weld seam at bottom with the potential for leakage and short lifetime (I've seen this happen before with other kettles). Sent it back without even using. The replacement was sent promptly (Amazon has been commendable in it's response to all this) but the second kettle was even worse than the first-- when filled and standing, a slow leak developed just under the power switch. That obviously posed a genuine safety hazard. It is on its way back and will not be replaced. Caveat emptor!! The reviews are good and that's why we ordered it, but it's a cheaply crafted, unreliable product that has displayed defects 2 out of 2 times. Lots of plastic, weak joints, and flimsy switches. Even if it looks and operates well from the beginning, it will most likely be destined to have a very short life. I believe most of the good reviews probably took low cost into the consideration. There's no reason to give it a high rating otherwise. Watch out -- 1 star (at most) for this clunker. As far as Amazon's response, nothing but 5 stars for them! This is the first product I've had problems with and had to return in a long history of many purchases of all kinds of products. They responded to this problem situation promptly, professionally, personally, and fairly. Can't say that about many businesses these days.
