Do you fly fish?
I chose this book as an August first read based on the description, which I feel is a little misleading. If you are an avid fly fisherman and want to read pages and pages describing-in admittedly lush detail-fly fishing as practiced by a family that is a hot mess, this is the book for you. After a few chapters I was bored out of my mind. The author writes very well and pulls the reader into the time and place quickly. It is easy to see the locale, feel the weather and fall in love with the country. I think, however, that this must have been written for a male audience, but not because the book is loaded with fishing. I am female and love to fish, but I could not find one character that had enough redeeming qualities to make it worth wading through the other nonsense about spoiled men with more money than was good for them. And no, flinging money from your death bed at those who have suffered for your sins is not atonement.
