I purchased this vacuum a couple of weeks ago from Lowes. I started by using it as the lift away to vacuum my stairs. It worked unbelievably well! Then while using it in the upright position on my carpet, it began giving me little shocks that felt like static electricity. The longer I used it, the stronger the shocks got, until finally it sent a HUGE shock up my arm that caused me to jump back and throw the vacuum down. I have never been shocked that hard in my life. I have used other vacuums in my house, and at the same outlet, and have never recieved an electric shock from anything in my home. I returned it for another of the same model, because it really does work well at picking up dirt! I finally had a chance to put the new one together and use it today. It immediately started up with the little shocks again. I decided to try a different outlet, and it kept happening and started to get stronger. I am very disappointed because I like all of the functions of this vacuum, and it has great suction power. I called the company's customer service and they just told me to return it to the store. I asked if they have had any other reports of this happening, and the lady said, "This is a very, very good vacuum, and we have not had very many reports of electrical shock or sparks." Well they have had a report of it now, and sounds like they must have had some others. Doesn't sound like they intend to do anything about it, so I guess I am going to have to spend double the money and go get a Dyson.
