Just not funny
I watched the entire first season waiting and waiting for the first chuckle. It never came to me. I greatly enjoyed the accurate depiction of life back in the 50's and 60's and applaud the producers for the realistic scenery and costuming. However I found the plot rather thin and acting to be pretty overdone. Ms. (PC) Maisel's humor was nothing like that of Joan Rivers, the comedienne she is purported to emulate. Joan could be crass and disgusting but she also was hilarious when doing it. All Maisel does is kvetch and kurse. Not funny. Every episode seemed to be her getting pissed-off about something then running up on stage to moan about it. If what she said had been insightful and inventive instead of self-pitying moaning, it might have been entertaining.
Then again, I find little of today's humor to be all that clever. Just standing on stage spewing naughty words eventually loses its shock value. But everybody's doing it so it must be great.
