Beware
The wording in the product description is misleading. It's not just amazon, either - the product description seems to be the same no matter where you look. Before you buy, be forewarned: the bonus content is NOT on the disk, and nowhere does it specifically say that. The disk itself includes none of the story updates or patches released over the last year or so. This is the original base game disk and a voucher for the season pass, royal pack, and DLC stuff, which must be downloaded. If you were expecting a complete game with all the good stuff included and not have to download anything, you'll be disappointed. If you've already purchased the physical copy of game and the season pass, don't bother with this. Just pay the whatever extra for the new content if you really want it. If this is your first time purchasing the game and have ready access to the internet and a willingness to wait up to 6 hours for the content to download, this is not a terrible deal. Otherwise, skip it. Edit: I'm aware it would be difficult to include all the content on one disk. However, considering this is advertised as a more complete edition of the game with all the extras - and at present it still says *nothing* about that additional content being downloadable *only*. I've bought re-releases of other games that include dlc's before and every one of them has that extra content on the disk unless it was mmo content. That's what was advertised. That's what I got. For people who do not have reliable wifi/internet and who already own the base game, this is a total waste of money. At the very least, the story updates to the main game should have been included on a re-release like this, if not the episodes. Some of us wanted a complete game on 1-2 disks to free up space on our hard drives because, let's be honest, this game has an insane amount of updates, patches and content. Some of us can't download content at all due to rural locations, finances, or unreliable/slow internet. I live in an area where our only option is satellite, and due to the terrain, weather and trees, the service is often terrible. So due to the way this was advertised by Squenix, it's not at all unreasonable to expect there to be something new and different about the disk itself besides the cover art. It's not unreasonable for those who just want the game without having to download patches and story updates to expect it to be included on the disk. Because they never even *mentioned* a voucher. Otherwise, why not just make the royal edition a dlc like the season pass and leave it at that? Instead of tricking people into buying the exact same game again? Worse is that there is a second season pass to come with content added all the way through 2019, with more content that must be downloaded. I've no doubt the complete edition to come will be the same as this. Personally, I would have preferred a finished game on multiple disks than to have to keep downloading updates and story fixes. It's a decent game. But it would have been better if they gave it to us finished and polished from the start.
