Probably 6-7-8 years ago I bought an Almond "Range Extender" which from outward appearances looks the same as the current model. This being the case I expected much the same functionality. These are the differences I discovered which, had I known before my purchase, would have caused me to rethink my selection. 1. To use the product you must now open an online "Almond" account. 2. You need a cell phone to download an app to complete registration. 3. You may need to provide credit-card information should you make a chargeable purchase. 4. After doing all that, the device was unable to make the connection anyway. All I wanted was a range extender, not a relationship. I've decided to return the product.
