Pretty style, caustic smell, lead released from all smell or no
The cage around the light and the actual metal parts smelled caustic and smoky coming straight out of the bag. I plugged it in hoping it would go away. It didn't. It just gave me s whooping headache. Washed the salt stones and cleaned out the cage and put it outside on three consecutive very windy days and let it remain lot. That didn't help at all. So I posted the question. Turns out this is NOT a new issue and many have returned them. I called the seller as did another woman a month or so ago and was told "some lamps are like that." The other woman bought two later on and one smelled lightly but that one did air out. The other was fine. I love the lamp and it was perfect for the couple hours I used it in terms of design and lighting. But I am hesitant to get another. Returning it and hoping the seller fixes this issues. No use in having a purifying lamp that makes you feel crappy because of a manufacturing defect they have yet to fix and is still causing problems. I actually had the lamp tested. It came back with extremely high levels of lead. So not only did it smell horrendous, it was actually unhealthy. The tester also said that all the lamps would be made the same despite style, just that it is a toss up whether they smell or not and to what degree. So either way, as beautiful as the lamp is, it appears to be an unhealthy holder for the Himalayan salt. Which is too bad. And to top it off customer service pretty much is non-existent. They are there but there is limited to any service. A lot of excuses.
