I really wanted to like this inexpensive carpet cleaner. The problem is that Hoover cheaped out on the parts. It didn't put out enough cleaning solution when new and then it quit putting out solution altogether. The reason was due to the solution distorting a rubber piece in the solution tank cap and Hoover has been sold out of this little, inexpensive part for weeks now. I'm skeptical that it'll ever be restocked, if it was ever stocked in the first place. I'm very disappointed in Hoover with this machine. Updated: I blamed the solution for distorting rubber parts in my original review, but I'm not certain that was what did it. All I know is that the rubber seal/gasket on the solution tank nozzle looked like it had melted, for some reason. Anyhow, Hoover finally got this part back in stock, so I ordered one (i.e. the nozzle for the solution tank). The new one works better than the old one did when new, because it actually allows solution to flow out adequately, but I'm still waiting to see if it also distorts. The funny thing is that it works just like the old broken one, because both just allow solution to pour out when turned upside down, which I doubt is how it's supposed to work. Regardless, I just have to put the tank in quickly and it works good, unlike when it was new and wouldn't let any solution out. I would never buy a more expensive Hoover model, knowing that Hoover uses such cheap parts, however. Update 2: Well, a couple of days went by before the new part failed. I won't buy another Hoover machine and am changing my rating to a 1 star. Update 3: I've ruined my review with so many updates, but I'm just so frustrated with this steam cleaner and I want to reiterate it's major problem. That is it doesn't put out enough liquid solution, because it's built so cheap. It's such a small problem, but it makes an otherwise decent product, terrible. When you don't get enough solution on the spot, it just rubs the dirt around. When I had a temporary, makeshift cap for the solution bottle, it worked very well, but unfortunately I've yet to find a permanent solution. Final Update: I finally purchased a Bissell to replace this Hoover. The difference is night and day. The Bissell has a deep cleaning mode and a regular mode, unlike this Hoover. The regular mode is more like this Hoover, when the Hoover actually works right, while the deep cleaning mode emits more solution for a better clean. This made me realize that this Hoover isn't meant to do much, which still would have been fine with me, if it had just worked as it was supposed to work, which it did not. This will likely be my last Hoover, because it seems that Bissell has surpassed Hoover in this industry.
