IF YOU LOVE BIRDS - DO NOT PURCHASE! At first, we thought this feeder pole was perfect. And, to be honest, it works fine - however. There is what I will refer to as a design flaw. See how the pole has two arms that extend to the side to hang feeders from? One arm is welded in place and fixed. The other arm is removable. I suppose this makes the product easier to ship since the entire unit is narrow. I don't know. In any event, I do know that the removable arm slides into an opening (you can see the opening at the top of the pole). Well, the design flaw is that the two arms are not right up against each other. There is a small gap in between the two arms. And that gap narrows as you go down. This feeder ruined our Memorial Day backyard plans. Seems a small sparrow got his claw stuck in between the two arms - and couldn't remove himself. This poor little bird lost his life and we were treated to the sadness of having to remove him. I couldn't stop staring at the blood that had filled his mouth and was coming out of his beak. I've attached the photos so you can see for yourself. IF you must get this feeder pole, be sure to do something to close that gap. What, I'm not exactly sure. For now we tried black duct tape but I am concerned that the birds may try to nibble at the tape or, worse yet, that the adhesive seeps out of the tape and sticks to their feathers. I'll have to think of some other fix. I may just wind up throwing the darn thing out.
