Cutting board and its replacement warped within a few months, ghosted by customer service!
I purchased this board in June of 2018, based on the recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. The size and relative ease of care were attractive features for me. I saw the negative reviews here on Amazon, but figured that those people must have been doing something wrong, because I normally regard ATK's testing process as relatively rigorous. Here is a description of my use of the board after receiving it: I was washing it with minimal soap and water, and leaving it flat to dry. I was applying mineral oil periodically, and caring for the board basically as instructed. I live in Southern California, so it's pretty much a warm, dry climate year-round. Unsurprisingly, my board warped and cracked after a few months' worth of regular home use. Well, it was too late to return on Amazon, so I emailed TeakHaus customer support with the included pictures. To their credit (at least initially), I was sent a replacement free of charge. However, the replacement board began cracking and warping even sooner than the original, within perhaps 1 month. I again emailed Anthony at TeakHaus, explaining the situation, and he offered to replace the board again. I asked if I could upgrade to one of their end-grain models instead, offering to pay the difference in MSRP (which was about $30). I never received a response, so at this point my only recourse is to write this review and hope nobody else buys this terrible-quality product. As you can see in the photos, the cracks appear both in the joints and in the middles of pieces, in cases where they've used knotted wood in the construction of their cutting boards. I have since purchased a Boos Block maple board, and so far it is holding up well. It is thicker and the wood seems to be of higher quality. I would never recommend a TeakHaus product to anyone looking to buy a cutting board that will last.
