My old iron died and after shopping around and reading reviews I settled on this one and was really looking forward to a nice crisp, golden-brown waffle. I was quite disappointed. First of all, the blue light which comes on when the waffle is ready is very hard to see, located in the rear of the top, you almost have to be right on top of it too see it's lit. The waffles were nicely brown but very limp and floppy, not crisp at all. Even when I turned the setting up to over the number 4 the waffles were limp. They also smelled like they were burning when cooking and tasted that way, too. I also was disappointed in the measuring cup, although it is a good idea, the measurements on the cup are impossible to read because they are the same color as the cup. They should be black or some dark, contrasting, color. The iron did clean up reasonably well. I was really looking forward to a nice, crisp, golden-brown waffle but was very disappointed. I have returned the waffle iron and will continue my search.
