I bought this unit based on the reviews and the price. It didn't realize how different the internal working design is from other type cleaners and how this design flaw leads to failure. While the Kreepy Krauly uses a hard plastic moving flapper that pivots in the housing to move the unit along the pool this unit uses a soft plastic tube that contracts and expands to propel the unit. The problem is that anything which any hard material such as a 1.5" leaf with a hard stem as to pass through this same opening, gets caught in the plastic tube, which prevents it from contracting fully. The unit then fails to move around the pool and so, as a pool cleaner, it becomes useless. In the past 20 years that I've maintained my 26,000 gallon pool, I've had about 5 different Kreepy Kraulys . Some worked better than others but they all removed smaller leaves and debris well. This G3 is the first one I've actually wanted to return because it just doesn't do the job it is supposed to be designed to do. I am nor any member of my family is connected in any way to Kreepy Krauly. I'm just someone angry they spent hard earned money on something that doesn't work and just spent Saturday morning trying to hand vaccum the bottom of the pool!
