Awful Book- Parent Review
I'm a 38 year old mother of 4. My teen had me read this to see if I'd allow her to read it based on the content. We both love Mystery books. I was so disappointed in this book and it was hard to get through. First I'll start off by saying that there are SEVERAL mentions of teenagers as young as 15 having sex, several mentions of drugs and teenage girls being drugged and raped. The morning pill is also mentioned. There's also multiple instances where they talk about a man touching himself. There's teen parties, drinking/getting drunk, and on top of all that an inappropriate sexual relationship between a teacher and a teenage girl. Obviously there's murder, but also detailed description of suicide described (how he supposedly did it). There's also a death of a dog which was totally unnecessary. Oh, and she also through in a teen who was a lesbian (her best friend) .. why make her lesbian except to push the agenda. I personally don't think this is a great book for teenagers. But I also don't think it's a great book for adults because of the way it's written. It's written in a very childish way. Every clue that came along added another name to a long list of suspect. There really was no great detective work going on, it's how I imagine a child solving a mystery .. which makes sense since it was a child solving a mystery.. I cringed throughout the book with her crime solving skills, or lack of. I really don't understand why this book is so popular. So many better mystery books out there.
