Not sure if its all its cracked up to be
I rarely write reviews but after having this unit installed for almost 2 months, I want to temper some of the enthusiasm the vast majority of the reviews seem to encourage. My wife suffers from severe mold allergies, we have an older pier and beam home with the air returns between floor joists and some very old water damage in the HVAC closet which also houses the water heater (which as some point long ago burst, i.e. water damage). We've been getting bids for a new HVAC unit/ducting and one contractor mentioned the Reme Halo and really talked it up as maybe eliminating her issues all together. I personally haven't seen any drastic improvement in air quality in our home and my wife hasn't noticed any difference in her mold allergy. I've allowed my blower unit to run continuously, as has been suggested in some other reviews, and I've left the unit on auto. The only time I notice anything is when the fan runs continually and you do get that slight ozone smell; not unpleasant at all but noticible. Seems to smell "rainstorm fresh," (if that makes any sense) when it runs continuosly. I change filters every 3 months and I thought maybe after running it for a good while and then changing the filter would help. Nothing really noticible. Again, not to say it doesn't work as advertised but it was not the silver bullet in my situation.
