Do not buy this case if you are looking for the standard Otterbox protection that you have come to know and love with their past products; it is not there with this one. The iPhone 5c case is lacking the rubberized covering over the home button. This might be necessary for the 5s with the fingerprint unlocking mechanism, but this is the 5c and doesn't come with that feature. Instead they have introduced a circular cutout leaving the home button completely exposed. What this does is also introduce an avenue for the entrance of dust, dirt, and other particles to enter and settle between the screen protector and the screen. The top front of the case is completely lacking the bezel that was a standard feature, so now the top of the screen also contains a completely cutout portion of the screen protector, completely exposing the front camera and speaker. The problem here is the same as the problem with the open cutout for the home button, but its worse. This cutout section DOES NOT FIT FLUSH AGAINST THE SCREEN, which results in an area that is completely and totally open to dust, sand, and/or anything else. If you have your phone in this case and you drop it in the sand or dirt, you are not going to want to use it until you take the case apart and clean it thoroughly, otherwise you are going to run the risk of permanently scratching your screen, not just the screen protector, but the actual screen of your phone. If you take your phone out into the fog you are likely to get condensation between the screen protector and the actual screen of the phone. If you like to take hot showers and you have the phone in the bathroom, you're going to end up with condensation between the screen protector and the phone. In short, this new otterbox case offers no protection from the elements at all. None, zero, nada. From drops and falls, perhaps, but this is definitely not the otterbox I have come to know and love in the past. I have an otterbox defender on my iPhone 4s, my iPod 5th generation, my ipad mini, and my daughters iPod 4th generation. Unless they change the design I will not be using the Otterbox Defender on my iPhone 5c. This is clearly an inferior product, and its evident right from the start. I had my phone in it for less than 5 minutes. I immediately took it out and put it in another protective case that I had bought the day I got the phone. I ordered the otterbox from their website because, well, its an Otterbox and in my book their track record was second to none. But not this time. I'm not sure what has happened at Otterbox, but obviously something has happened because how this product ever made it past their quality control is quite beyond my comprehension. If you think I am exaggerating then go ahead and buy it. I can only say that you were forewarned.
