Deluxe is not so deluxe. I guess all good things eventually come to an end.
Seriously, Intuit?
I've been using Turbotax for 23 years! Over time my tax situation has gotten a little more complex but I've always found turbotax keeping pace. I don't find the sale of stocks to be an overly complex function ... Heck you've been including stock sales on schedule D in the Deluxe version for years! And now you're telling me that if I want to do that I have to pay 90 dollars for premier, instead of the 60 dollars for deluxe? That is a 50% increase over last year.
Stop making excuses. You know that this is NOT the same as last year's version. Telling people that they can manually enter their stock and investment information is not the same as the "interview" option that makes it easy to enter stock sales on schedule D ... ESPECIALLY since you state that if someone DOES manually enter the data, THEY CAN'T E-FILE !!
After 23 loyal years ... during which I've told many people to use your software ... I find myself in the position where I'm going to have to investigate using different software. I just can't understand why you'd take such a radical step against your faithful customers. This makes no sense.
Either own up to this bad business decision and fix it ... Or at least stop the lame defense. The more you try to defend this decision as being no different than last year the more you are driving people to other software that is half the price.
I'll probably give Intuit the benefit of the doubt and wait to buy my tax software until the end of the year in the hope they'll reconsider this bad decision, but if not I'll be looking into H&R Block and make sure that friends and family are aware of this change as well.
