I have waited 6 months to write this review. and I promise I gave it a good chance. So here's the low down....my husband was delegated the task of cleaning the litter box, I took care of the dog...that's how it went. Despite his claims that he diligently scooped the poop and pee 2-3 times a week, I was skeptical. The scent of cat excrement wafted through the air every time I was in the vicinity of our litter box. So that led to this purchase. Now, first off,it says it good for a month. A month?? try two weeks. and that's with dousing it with baking soda and scooping poop out of the trap 1-2 times a week. Does my cat pee more than yours? perhaps, if you happen to have a kitten. my cat is a normal middle aged cat, no kidney issues, etc. I am baffled by the good reviews. The cost of maintaining this and buying replacements seemed ludicrous. I then did what any other dedicated product owner would do, I taped and lined the box with a wee-wee pad, it didn't get trapped in the mechanics as the company warns, but maybe I got a good extra week of use before the ammonia odor was making me light headed from Oscar's urine. So what do to, I had to throw in the towel....this just wasn't sustainable. I then got a Litter Genie, now that was actually cool- went back to old school clumping litter and had the convenience of quick on demand "poop and scoop" clean up without any fuss. yet, the litter genie was flimsy and small. Then, the magic really happened......I bought, (wait for it a DIAPER GENIE....quick one foot operated convenience, huge capacity, no odor leakage....I actually look forward to going into the litter box room and seeing what nuggets I can scoop up and dump in my Diaper genie. this thing lasts for a long, time I just sprinkle a little more litter on the box when needed. Now I care for the cat bathroom and my dog and I don't mind at all!!!!
