Worst Book I Have Touched in 10+ Years. Did Hannah pay for all of her good reviews??!!
I always thought Kristin Hannah wrote Harlequin romance-like books....mindless chick lit for an easy beach read. When I saw that The Nightingale popped up on the top of my Amazon recommendations (despite having never read any of her books or any other light summer reads) with so many 5 star reviews, I thought I was mistaken. She must be a better writer of more substantial novels! Well....I have to say....I was RIGHT about her! The Nightingale is the worst book I have picked up in the last 10+ years. It read like a Lifetime movie simply set during WWII. The writing was too clique, the characters shallow and uninteresting. Ugh....sorry I wasted any time at all on this one. I didn't finish it, which is the first time I have not finished a book I started in probably 20 years.
