Good Cup but Not Great - Painted Coating Flakes Off
The mug performs it's primary purpose of keeping my coffee hot! Exceptionally well in fact, thus warranting a 2/5 rating for a product that is fast to show wear and tear within a year of use. Having anything other than piping hot coffee is unacceptable.
Pros:
Great at keeping coffee hot - the vacuum insulation is awesome!
Comfortable to hold/use
Looks good (exactly as pictured)
Cons:
Paint is chipping off the drinking rim (see pictures)
A little strange to drink out of with the lid on - there is only one way in/out of that lid unlike other coffee mugs which have a pressure release hole
Plastic handle (didn't realize this before buying)
A little large for standard cup-holder
After using the mug for about a year, I'm definitely not expecting another year. The paint is chipping off the rim, and is showing scrapes on the bottom from setting the mug down on rough surfaces. I did not abuse the rim of the cup whatsoever (I admit the bottom has been semi-abused by my setting the mug down on outdoor surfaces). Whatever process they use to add the coating seems to be chipping at different locations along the rim at the same time. What's the point of having a coating if you can't keep it on the cup. The cup is a little too large for a standard cup holder for my car and I am force to set it in places that are somewhat awkward positions in my vehicle.
The plastic handle feels insincere. You have this mug which is metal and sturdy with a plastic semi-permanently attached handle. No issues yet, but I am expecting a catastrophic failure at some point soon.
Most coffee cups lids are built with the expectation you would like to drink out of them easily. The lid is exceptionally well sealed, thus the coffee is extra hot, but there is a single hole in the lid which will teach you a new way to drink. If you decide to use the lid with the hot beverage in side, you must pour extremely slowly, or slurp and burn your lips. I modified my lid by adding my own pressure release hole (as pictured). I don't recommend doing this since you will now make a mess every time you set the cup down from whatever splashing out. Adding the pressure release helps but drinking with the lid on is still on great.
