Thinking that Hamilton Beach would be a cheaper, and yet a well known brand, I purchased this for my wife. KitchenAid was out of our price range, and after reading reviews, I decided on this one. There were many good reviews, but also some negative reviews that included the plastic hinges breaking so that the mixer itself could not be lowered into the bowl and snap to stay down. Well, this happened to us after the 5th use. My wife decided to make some peanut putter cookies. While holding the mixer down. She heard a loud snap, the unit started shuddering and the mixer itself came apart in two separate pieces. The only thing holding anything together was the white cord inside. Two metal pieces were standing upright. We are still in our warranty period and am hoping this manufacturer will replace this unit with a more sturdy one. I will update this review once I have heard from the manufacturer.
