I was looking for a new carpet cleaner and thought I would buy this Bissell based on some positive reviews. I only give it 2 stars because 1: It has poor water suction power. It leaves too much water in the carpet and the suction is even worse with the upholstery hose and hand held cleaner. When I used the upholstery cleaner it the first time, it seemed OK, but I used it about an hour later on another piece of furniture and it barely sucked up the water, my cushion was soaked. I even called the manufacturer regarding the suction. They recommended a replacement for the hand held cleaner (in case it was defective). I am willing to try it again, but somehow I feel it won't make a difference. 2: the carpet brushes continue to spin when using the upholstery hose and cleaner. I don't think they should continue to spin when I turn the dial to the tools selection because this causes abrasion on the floor or carpet while cleaning the upholstery. 3: Because it uses a bladder system, it doesn't have a rinse only option which I miss. Sometimes you need that option when you need to rinse out the cleaning solution. There are 2 positives about this product 1: It is quieter than most carpet cleaners. It's still loud but not deafening. 2: The wheels move easily over carpet and floors. On the whole, I will send this product back and do not recommend it to anyone. My ten year old Hoover, which is falling apart, still has better suction power than this Bissell and even though it may not be exactly the same type model of machine, I feel that this Bissell should have performed much better than the Hoover. I'm quite disappointed.
