2.5 Stars - Started great but devolved quickly.
I really enjoy omegaverse books, especially ones without the shifter aspect... To find a book with more than one omega to a group of alphas? I was really excited. Unfortunately, this one didn't work for me. Let's be real here... Emotionally abusing a vulnerable character isn't romantic. Playing with someone's feelings/emotions doesn't portray affection. Dark romance books are some of my absolute favorite. When done correctly, the reader sees the dark & ugly side of things, without losing all respect/attraction to the hero/heros. If I can't respect a hero I'm reading about, then I can't be attracted to them or invested in the romance. The alphas were awful. Despite Lilah proving herself over & over it made no difference in how they treated her. I kept waiting for these guys to realize how awful they were being. For them to quit playing games with this poor girl and her emotions... Yet that did not happen. At least not before the point of no return. In fact, they continue to ignore/torture Lilah to the point her life is nearly forfeited. These men think about how poorly they are treating her. They see how broken she is... Yet they still continue the behavior?? I just don't find anything attractive in that. The pack's current omega is insecure & starved for affection/attention... And even he gets more attention than our heroine. The scene with the two omegas feeding each other sauces was sweet/cute. Other than that? No romance, no sweet scenes, no build up of affection... What's the point of reading a romance that's missing all those important bits? You get a book where the alphas alternate between "You're safe here" and "You have no place here... Leave." Which is essentially, them emotionally terrorizing her over and over again. If book two has Lilah finding a completely new group of men, then yeah I'd probably read it. Otherwise, I'd have to pass. I can't buy into a reality where they redeem themselves or their actions. They skirted the line most of the book but by the end? Nah, the author convinced me the alphas were just plain trash. I don't mind reading the ugly/dark but, by the end of the book I need to at least have some attraction & respect for the hero. Otherwise, what's the point?
