I was hoping for fun and engaging time travel stories but this is just another awful fantasy-romance series with the requisite childish, imbecilic heroine and her helplessly infatuated par-amour (who is, of course, rich, handsome, possesive and who always apologizes for every little disagreement with his idiot girlfriend.) Oh, and the “romance” is limited to winks, smoldering glances and some steamy kisses. Don't waste your time or money. Is it possible for romance writers to create thinking adult women for their stories - women who act with a modicum of common sense? Or do all plot lines in the genre require an impulsive ditz-head and her ridiculous antics to drive the narrative? I get that this is fantasy for the masses and I like good, escapist fantasy. I am more than willing to suspend my disbelief but please give me characters whose actions are at least somewhat plausible. And, for the love of God Ms Martin please don’t torture readers with sentences like “When you cheeks are flush with desire, your lips swollen from my kisses…I want this to be mine alone.”
