I've had this bulb for almost two years now, a few months short of the warranty expiration. And now the thing is defective. The LEDs in the bulb frequently flicker and change colors. After troubleshooting I knew it was definitely a hardware defect. So, I contacted TP-Link. After the usual back and forth of convincing them it's a defect and I know what I'm talking about, they finally "allow" the RMA replacement and send me to a link to fill out the forms. This is where the process falls off the rails. They are having the customer, me, pay to ship it to them, which I always find distasteful when the defects aren't the fault of the customers. However, the straw that broke the camel's back was when their system tried to charge me 3x more than the cost of the shipping it listed for the method I chose. It said it would be $15 (which is like $6 less than just buying a brand new bulb, sky) but it tried to charge me $45 and change. I could buy TWO bulbs with the money they tried to scam me out of. I did attempt to go back and choose the less appealing "I ship it to them my way, and pay for it and they send the replacement back to me" option, but rather than allowing me to back one step up and switch it, it closed the RMA out entirely. So, now I can't do EITHER warranty replacement option. I asked the rep I was emailing with to help me fix it and they just ignored me. So, long story short, I do not recommend buying TP-Link Kasa products. Customer service is a huge deal, standing by their own products is a huge deal, and they are failing at both. I don't like buying expensive electronics from companies that don't stand by their work. Get Phillips Hue if you can afford it, and if you can't, look at Meross. It's a cheaper brand, but I actually have a bunch of their stuff for various reasons, and they work great, and the times they did defect, they replaced them promptly without hassle. Remember to be good and do good.
